Frequently Asked Questions

If you need immediate assistance before or during a class, please email our support team at <tech@yoga-sanctuary.com>.

If you don’t find the answer you need below, please email our Studio Manager at <studio@yoga-sanctuary.com>, and we will do our best to get back to you within one business day.

For New Students

  • We supply a yoga mat for free in-studio to first-time Sanctuary students and to those on the New Member Offer. After that, yoga mat rental is $2/use.

  • Some teachers do suggest props to help support the practice. Class descriptions on the schedule will state whether props are suggested, and at the start of class, the teacher will let you know what props you might want to have on hand. Public props are available for use in our studio. You can read about our prop cleaning protocol under the “Health and Safety Protocols” tab at the bottom of this page. You are also welcome to bring your own props.

Need props at home? Get creative! Books, water bottles, tennis balls, blankets, towels, sheets, pillows, couch cushions—your teacher will help you figure out what will be most supportive for you.

  • Wear clothes you can move comfortably in. Nothing fancy needed!

  • Great! You’re in the right place. We offer a weekly Foundational Yoga Class on Tuesday evenings. Our Intro to Yoga 6-week series is also a great place to learn the basics of the practice and start to get comfortable. Check out our Special Programming page to see when the next series is coming. If you have some movement background other than yoga (think sports teams, dance, or going to the gym) or just want to get started, you might try our Level 1 classes. And if you’re wanting to jump-start your practice, our New Member Offer is a great place to start; you can try all of the different teachers and classes on the schedule and see which are a good fit for you.

  • If class is starting soon, email tech@yoga-sanctuary for assistance. If you have time, visit this page, which includes instructions on how to sign up for class, what to expect, and troubleshooting FAQs.

Studio Policies

  • Absolutely not! Everyone is always welcome in our regular classes. You can purchase a single, 5-class, or 10-class pass instead of a membership at any time.

  • If you miss a regular class, we’ll simply remove you from the class roster, and your pass will remain available for use until it expires (you’ll find the expiration date on your receipt). There is no fee for failing to show up for a regular (weekly) class.

  • Generally, series classes are registered and paid for up-front, are non-refundable, and cannot be made up at a later date.

  • If you register for a workshop or event and you do not show up, you forfeit your pass. We require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice for reservation cancelations. Please email us at studio@yoga-sanctuary.com if you cannot make it, so we can offer your spot to someone on the waitlist. We are unable to offer credits or refunds.

  • Cancellations and schedule changes will be posted on the website and on Punchpass.

  • Our staff members lock the door 10 minutes after class has begun. When there is no staff member present to support the teacher, the teacher will lock the door and start class no later than 2 minutes past the scheduled class start time. These policies are in place for the safety and security of our students, and out of respect for those who show up on time.

Some teachers allow late arrivals. If you know you will be late, please email us at tech@yoga-sanctuary.com, and we will let you know if the teacher approves your late arrival.

If you show up late and the door is locked, please be respectful. Do not knock on the door or call out. We appreciate your understanding, and we look forward to practicing with you another time.

  • Children ages 10 and up may attend any class deemed appropriate by a parent or guardian (see our “Classes” page for activity and experience level), as long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. For children under 10, please check out the “Special Programming” page to see if there are any upcoming events, or contact us at studio@yoga-sanctuary.com.

  • Signing up for an online class entails the implicit understanding that Sanctuary is not responsible for technical difficulties out of our control (ex.: power and/or wifi outages, Zoom server errors). We do our best, but live streaming is always subject to complications. No refunds can be issued in the case of such events. We are grateful for your patience and understanding.

Troubleshooting Livestream Online Classes

  • Sanctuary staff cannot provide technical assistance for Zoom or your email provider. The troubleshooting tips below are the extent of our technical knowledge.

  • You’re looking for an email from Punchpass with the subject line, “Class Reservation Received - {class name}” First, check your Spam or Promotions folder. If you find it there, create a filter so messages from "booking@punchpass.com" always arrive in your inbox, and are never marked as spam. Each email provider has a different way to create a filter.

The confirmation may also have been sent to the wrong email address. Log into your Punchpass account and confirm that your email is correct and that you’ve opted to receive emails from us. It may be buried in your inbox, or in another folder. Search your email for “Class Reservation Received”.

  • You’re looking for an email from Punchpass “booking@punchpass.com.” Repeat the steps for finding the confirmation email. If your class link email was sent to the wrong email and you no longer have access to that email, contact us and we will send you the link. Please update your email so you will be sure to get the link for the next class! You can also access the class link by signing into your Punchpass account and clicking on the class.

  • Absolutely not. We understand that everyone’s home situation and personal preferences are different. We welcome you to turn your video on at the beginning of class to say hi to the teacher and staff, but you are welcome to turn your video off at any time.

  • Since the studio is hosting the online classes from our “Pro” account, there’s no time limit on classes. Your Free Zoom account works!

  • Find the button that says “Gallery View” or “Speaker View”. This will toggle between two settings: Gallery View (which shows all of the participants in equal-sized boxes, like the Brady Bunch!) and Speaker View (which shows just the speaker, plus a row of small thumbnails with the rest of the participants).

We recommend Speaker View for class—you’ll be able to see the teacher, and also the other participants in the thumbnails. If you want to remove the thumbnails entirely, click the “Enter Full Screen” button (top right hand corner on a computer). Then, hover over the strip of thumbnails and, at the top left hand corner, click the smallest rectangle to minimize the thumbnails entirely.

Health and Safety Protocols

  • Masks are optional for everyone, regardless of your vaccination status. The one exception is that masks are required for our Postpartum with Baby classes.

We encourage everyone to do a “wellness check” before coming to the studio, and we suggest wearing a mask if you feel like that’s the right thing to do. If you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms, we ask that you do not enter our space.

  • We sanitize high-touch surfaces and sweep a few times each week.

We do a deep clean of the studio every other week.

    We clean cloth props monthly.

We ask students to sanitize mats and blocks after each class.

Windows are open before and during class whenever possible.

I-WAVE ionizing air filters/purifiers have been added to all HVAC units in the building.

We have HEPA air filters placed strategically in the entryway and studio spaces.
