Collective Spotlight: Aimee Francaes
Meet Aimee Francaes, Qigong Instructor
Why did you want to become a Qigong Instructor
When I found qi gong, I was so taken by it's simplicity, accessibility and regenerative return in energy. I found that in teaching the forms, I was able to more fully learn them and was able to have their transmission flow through my body with even less effort. Being able to pass these ancient technologies on to others is a blessing. As well as being the wish of Wang Shifu, the JinJing Lineage holder, who dreams of these forms reaching every corner of the earth to share this incredible medicine.
What have you gained from this work?
Qi gong has given me a daily practice that aligns mind, body, breath, spirit and time. It's a moving mediation that staves off most all of my chronic pain. It is life-giving in a way that is beyond what words can share.
What do you hope your clients feel after working with you?
More so than after working with me, I hope that the people who come to learn qi gong are able to immediately feel the deep benefits of the practice and the forms. Sometimes it takes a few days or weeks of practice, sometimes it only takes the first initiation, but when the difference comes through, it's a true: AH-HA! moment. And from there, I have found through my continual time practicing that the transmissions, openings and deepening resonance is an ever-giving well of abundant water. Its magic is in showing us how we are made of magic!
How does your work inform your activism or understanding of the world?
Qi gong has both strengthened and softened my edges and boundaries. Qi gong is interwoven with my practice of Interbeing: a meditative dialogue practice rooted in the collective consciousness. Through these two practices, I feel an ever-deepening sense of humanity, of wholeness, of creativity and the ability to be connected through subtle sensing. It's a bit of a paradox as the more I sense and "know" the more I feel connected to the unknown. The more I feel this is where these senses and creative impulses ignite. Being in and feeling the unknown becomes home more and more.
What’s your favorite season of the year and why?
Autumn! The gorgeous colors, the coming calm and cold and ease of winter when everything becomes more quiet. October in this beautifully abundant land is the fleeting wonder of the year for me.
What has made you smile recently that you feel the need to share?
This! I am so happy to share this fun, beautiful, joyous practice in person with others. :D Additionally, the playful, joyous songs that myself and my beloved sing to our sweet cats! Sometimes we record the songs, ask me to pass them on to you, they will surely bring a smile. Or embarrassment.
