Meet Clara Alcántara, Reiki Practitioner and Spiritual Life Coach

Why did you want to become a Reiki Practitioner and Life Coach?

It was only just a few years ago when it sunk in to me that I am here to do healing work. I was raised in a very boxy religion and way of seeing life. It was through a lot of personal work, tears and many challenges that I am here today stepping up to sharing with others the powerful healing work of Reiki and personal transformation. I had a spontaneous awakening about 5 years ago and through dreams, powerful ancestors have been showing me that I am a healer, that healing and energy work is in my lineage and that I’m here to shine my own unique light to help people through their own journey of change, transformation and elevation.

What have you gained from this work?

Being plugged into energy and healing work, I’ve gained a lot of peace for myself and a deeper understanding of who I really am. It’s been easier for me to connect to my ancestors due to this work and to face so many fears. I’ve become more empathetic and more in tune to my inner voice. When doing work for others, I’ve gained the joy of seeing the positive changes in the lives of people and seeing that they were able to meet a personal goal. In the world we are living in, it’s always nice to see the change in perspective of people and see their growth.

What do you hope your clients feel after working with you?

After ending a Reiki session with me, I want clients to feel lighter, like they could easily navigate their day and aspects of their life. I would like them to leave with a much calmer nervous system. After a coaching session with me, I want clients to feel like they do have ownership over their lives, like they can create too and feel powerful to create the life they would like. I want them to feel less scared of reaching their own personal goals. I would like my gentle guidance to let my clients know that they are their own teacher and their own guide.

How does your work inform your activism or understanding of the world?

As a person of color, who has experienced her fair share of exclusivity in different places, I am committed to an inclusive environment for all people. I am constantly learning from others and asking questions of those who are different than I am and who’ve had a different journey than the one I’ve had. I also consider myself a proud ally of LGBTQ+ people as I have also seen so much discrimination and a lack of understanding and acceptance of these people and I care about ensuring LGBTQ+ as well as BIPOC feel heard, included, accepted and understood with the work I do.

What’s your favorite season of the year and why?

Summer is my favorite season because I feel freer and less constrained by all the clothing that other seasons bring and although I don’t like all the sweating, the heat brings more comfort to me than the cold. Also, as much as the bugs can be annoying, they are part of our lives and I get to partake in their energy in the summer as well as all of the plants and trees in full bloom. I also love being in the water in summer, the beaches and lakes.

What has made you smile recently that you feel the need to share?

I’m a fan of memes, so funny memes always make me smile.
