Yoga for Emotional Balance: Simple Practices to Help Relieve Anxiety and Depression by Bo Forbes

During our book club, we will discuss a reading from the book, Yoga for Emotional Balance: Simple Practices to Help Relieve Anxiety and Depression. We will also experience a restorative yoga practice (postures and breath) as a way to move from mental insight to embodied insight.

Bo Forbes is a clinical psychologist, yoga instructor, mindfulness teacher, and movement educator who integrates the fields of yoga, mindfulness, science, psychology, movement studies, and contemplative practice as a pathway to heal anxiety, depression and chronic stress.

About Carolyn: 

Carolyn Ruszala, RYT 200, completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at Mama Nirvana's in Easthampton in 2007 and her yin teacher training while she was living in San Diego. In addition to being a yoga instructor, Carolyn is also an elementary school teacher. She offers day and weekend yoga retreats and enjoys teaching gentle, yin, and restorative yoga classes, guided meditations, and mindfulness to children, adults, and families. Carolyn hopes to inspire and empower her students with self-love and self-care through her classes, workshops, and retreats. She hopes that together we can make the world a kinder, more compassionate, just place.

About Erin: 

Erin started practicing yoga in 2008 to manage her anxiety and a chronic shoulder condition. She completed her 200-hour training in Therapeutic Vinyasa and Restorative Yoga with Bo Forbes in 2013. Erin has taught in the Cambridge and Northampton areas, and assisted workshops at Kripalu. She is continually surprised by the physical and emotional healing power of her practice and is delighted to share this with others. Erin’s down to earth classes include mindful sequencing to gradually and gently open the body and soothe the nervous system. Through the use of breath, integrated core work, slow transitions and ball work, she hopes to help others find balance within their practice both in and out of the studio.
