Grace in the Embrace of the Shadow:
Meditations on the Tantric Goddess Saubhagya Sundari
with Douglas Brooks

NEW DATES!! SEPTEMBER 16-18 2011
Within the Tantric tradition of Auspicious Wisdom there are aspects of the Goddess that invite us to enter more deeply into our human nature and to contemplate more richly the experience of honest happiness in a world that relentlessly challenges that very possibility.
Nature never fails to create unexpected and often difficult circumstances; we know there is real turmoil and pain in life, we wonder how we might find the deeper value in experiences that accost our sense of justice. Yet this very Nature that challenges us provides all we need to reach our happiness, to create a sustainable prosperity, to savor the experience of life's blessing.
Saubhagya Sundari creates an opportunity for these contemplations in imagery and mythology, in mantra and meditation, and especially in poetry and the power of the poetic imagination to re-imagine and penetrate the depths of our conscious and unconscious feelings.
We will create an experience of reflection and refractive awareness through the contemplations of the Goddess that draws us closer to an essential human truth: the more deeply we receive the experience of our vulnerability, the more empowered we become to address the fullness of human experience as a gift, as a blessing, as an offering of Consciousness to experience the wonder of life.
No previous experience in yoga philosophy or Tantric practice is expected or required.
Bring an open mind, a willing heart, and a desire to experience more deeply the wisdom within.

This day long workshop will focus on therapeutic applications of yoga to provide students and teachers with tools to actively relieve pain and repair injuries. We will address a variety of musculo-skeletal injuries and misalignments related to the lower back, pelvis, hips, knees, ankles and feet. We will incorporate basic anatomy and kinesiology and apply these principles in practical therapeutic yoga routines. And, we will examine specific poses if and when students experience discomfort.
