Yoga Sanctuary is located within the bustling Thornes Marketplace in the heart of downtown Northampton. Our quiet third floor location includes two beautiful yoga studios. Our "Maha" (great) studio boasts one of the best views in all of downtown Noho and is a warm, spacious, beautiful space. Classes in "Shri" (beauty), our small studio, allows for more personal attention in a lovely, intimate setting. We also have 3 massage offices, a boutique with high quality yoga clothing, props, Audio and Dvd products and many special gift ideas. Yoga Sanctuary welcomes
all ages and abilities to learn yoga and healing arts in a compassionate and
creative environment. We especially promote the teachings of Anusara Yoga,
a beautifully elegant and uplifting style of yoga founded by John Friend in
1997.
Anusara Yoga is a hatha yoga system that unifies Universal Principles
of Alignment with a philosophy that embodies a celebration of the heart. It
encompasses a vision of totality in which each person is seen as equally divine
in every part - body, mind, and spirit. The body and mind are honored as sacred
vessels through which the divine radiance of supreme Consciousness can shine.
Anusara Yoga is an all-inclusive practice in which each student's
unique abilities and limitations are deeply honored.
